The Dayton dining scene recently experienced a flurry of news surrounding notable closures across the region.
Here’s a look at some of the stories that caught our attention.
Bravo! Italian Kitchen closes location at the Dayton Mall

Bravo! Italian Kitchen located at 2770 Miamisburg Centerville Road in Miami Township closed Tuesday, Sept. 8.
The restaurant’s website does not list any Dayton-area locations. The closest location in southwest Ohio remains Deerfield Town Centre in Mason.
When contacting the restaurant by phone, an automated message says, “Thank you for reaching out. This location is now closed.”
Bravo became part of the Dayton dining landscape in 1995. The restaurant moved to the front entrance of the mall in 2006.
Local O’Charley’s, Underground Chuck’s locations have closed
Underground Chuck’s, a spinoff concept from the operators of O’Charley’s, closed its location at 2260 Miamisburg Centerville Road near the Dayton Mall according to signage seen on Thursday, Sept. 10, 2026. It was part of O’Charley’s restaurant closings across the country.

O’Charley’s restaurants across the nation are closing.
Signage on the door of an O’Charley’s location in Middletown on Thursday, Sept. 10 says it has closed. The company has not officially confirmed the news, but media throughout the country report similar closure notices and some have spoken to employees who say they are out of jobs.
In particular, the O’Charley’s Facebook and Instagram pages were deactivated and its website was taken down. An internet search for local locations shows the words “permanently closed” in the listings.
Other O’Charley’s in this region closed in 2023, including those on Miller Lane in Dayton, Miamisburg Centerville Road in Miami Twp. and North Bechtle Avenue in Springfield.
In 2025, an Underground Chuck’s opened in the former O’Charley’s near the Dayton Mall. It is a spinoff concept from the operators of O’Charley’s that features wings, handcrafted Angus burgers, craft beers and signature cocktails. There is also a sign on the door at that location saying it is closed.
O’Charley’s closed more than 50 restaurants nationwide in 2023.
“It is always a difficult decision to close a store but based on a variety of industry challenges and the macro-economic environment over the last few years, we closed these O’Charley’s locations,” O’Charley’s CEO W. Craig Barber said in a statement in August 2023.
Local Wendy’s location closes as company struggles across U.S.

The Wendy’s restaurant at 4003 Wilmington Pike in Kettering, near Meijer, has closed with signage posted on the restaurant indicating this is a permanent change. The signage directs customers to its nearest open Wendy’s location in the area at 1880 E. Dorothy Lane.
This change comes as Wendy’s has continued to struggle with U.S. sales, while international growth has been positive, according to the company’s sales results from the first quarter of 2026.
“We are taking decisive action to strengthen the Wendy’s system and improve performance,” Ken Cook, Wendy’s interim CEO, said in an investor announcement in May.

Cook pointed to updated menu options and a focus on “operational excellence.”
“While our first quarter results reflect a business in the early stages of a turnaround, we are making progress to improve our U.S. business and are confident in the direction we are heading,” Cook said.
Wendy’s global systemwide sales were $3.2 billion, a decrease of 5.5%, for is first quarter in 2026 while its international sales grew 6%, according to Wendy’s first quarter 2026 earnings report. Its total U.S. sales for the first quarter of 2026 were $2.7 billion, compared to $2.9 billion in U.S. sales during the first quarter of 2025.
Last year, the restaurants at 4465 Indian Ripple Road in Beavercreek near The Greene and 2948 Miamisburg Centerville Road in Miami Twp. near the Dayton Mall closed. Earlier this year, the Wendy’s at 3001 S. Dixie Drive in Moraine closed and removed its signage.

It’s the second area Panera Bread to close in the last 16 months. The Panera Bread on Miller Lane in Butler Township near Vandalia closed in May of 2025.
