I finally decided to consolidate all my cans into one location, and I feel like I have my kitchen shelves back! The empty shelf is for tomatoes, I have 40 lbs coming this weekend for canning.

From top to bottom the shelves are:
– Jams/jellies/fruits
– Relishes/pickles/salsas/veggies
– Tomato products
– Tuna/chicken
– Mixed quarts
– Alcohol 🙂

This is the best location I could find in my apartment, and I understand the windows are not ideal for storage. These windows face southeast so they mostly get indirect sunlight. I also live in a place that is cloudy 200 days out of the year. I’m also looking into adding blackout fabric or cardboard to the back and sides.

If you have the means, (and before you TOTALLY fill the shelves) I strongly recommend getting the wheels you can add to the bottom. If there’s ever any kind of problem or emergency, it’s a great blessing to be able to move the shelf quickly.

i love your shelves! i really need to get some for my alcohol and canning too, since currently my alcohol is overflowing a little metal cart in my pantry 😭

fabric on the back and sides would be so nice! if you did that, you could do mini ‘curtains’ for each rack in the front if you wanted something more decorative too

agreed with mckenner on the wheels, it’ll be a lot less stressful than trying to either move everything off the shelves or trying to ‘carefully’ move the whole thing. just make sure you get some with locks on at least 2 wheels diagonal each other so you can lock it down!
