I was shopping in Gangnam the other day and kept smelling this insane bakery aroma, so I naturally followed my nose and got in line. Turned out to be a super popular salt bread spot (Jayeondo Salt Bread, I think?).
The line was pretty long, so I had high hopes, but honestly… it felt way too greasy and buttery for my taste. Like, the bottom was literally soaked in butter.
I know salt bread is huge in Korea right now, but is it usually this heavy? Would love to know if anyone here has tried it and what you thought!

its just trendy stuff loaded with fat
Felt the same way.Tried a few different ones. Just too buttery. Salt was OK. Seems very hype driven
Yeah being super buttery is kinda the point of 소금빵. They’re baked with a big chunk of butter in the center typically.
Side step, right-left, to my beat
High like the moon, rock with me, baby
Know that I got that heat
Let me show you ’cause talk is cheap
A side step, right-left, to my bea
Get it, let it roll
Yes… and that’s why I love it 🤣
I don’t like 자연도 either.
There’s a lot that aren’t as buttery and pretty damn good. A good example is ETF bakery or Agoong
Buttery yes and while I was having it I couldn’t help to think how delish it would have been if it was a ham & cheese 🐷
Nearly all Korean bread is too buttery for me, if it helps I’m Australian
Omg no I love 자연도. For me it’s the best salt bread in Korea. Everyone has different tastes but for me it’s such a welcome change from overpriced dinner rolls with a pinch of salt on the top
is there such a thing as too buttery of a salt bread??
It honestly reminded me of an American Auntie Ann’s pretzel; nothing to rave about
oh no!! steak too juicy also?
Too buttery? That’s not possible.
Thats the point, theyre amazing
That’s like saying “my steak melted in my mouth too much” or “my cheese pasta as too creamy” or “my pork belly was too fatty”.
What’s next OP? Mochi bread too chewy?
My favorite bread spot in Korea, especially in the winter when you get some fresh warm bread☺️
Now I want to try it even more.
Gluten sensitivity be damned.
Everyone’s tried it. Line moves quickly. It’s a delicious, decadent treat that’s best enjoyed right there on the spot. The first one is best, the second one is not as good, and the third one — not recommended, will absolutely make you sick.
