So my friends and I went to this dining pub near Gangnam-gu Office Station (강남구청역) called 구월의소철 (Guwol-ui Sochul), and we ordered their signature raw beef/salmon platter — 뭉티기 (mungtigi, thinly sliced raw beef) + 육회 (yukhoe, seasoned raw beef tartare) + salmon sashimi, all on one plate for 4 people.
The price: ₩85,000 (~$65 USD) for the whole platter. Split four ways that's basically the price of a fancy coffee run back home.
What actually came out:
– A full fan of deep red, glistening raw beef slices (mungtigi) — different cuts on one plate, some more marbled than others
– A mound of yukhoe in the center, seasoned and topped with sesame seeds, fresh herbs, and pear
– Bright orange salmon sashimi stacked on the side
– Wasabi, pickled garlic, and sesame oil dipping sauce on the plate
The beef was ice-cold and almost melted on the tongue — not gamey at all, just clean and rich. The yukhoe had that perfect sweet-savory balance from the seasoning, and honestly the salmon felt like a bonus, not filler.
Anyone else tried mungtigi before? Curious how it compares to other raw beef dishes around the world.
Forgot to mention — the beef platter didn't come alone. There was a whole side spread that honestly could've been its own meal:
Grilled dried smelt (시사모/shishamo-style fish) — small whole grilled fish, crispy skin, eaten bones and all, just dipped in the sauce below

It looks so appetizing—just the sight of it makes me crave soju. Did you have a drink with it?
