So I got hired at this new place that opened up. The agreement with the chec that hired me was Mon-Fri AM shifts. I worked weeks of insane nights alone while they found other dishwashers and now that they have them I've started my morning schedule just this week. And now he expects me to change my plans basically day of?

It’s really big of you to step up to the plate and even spend enough time forming a proper sentence as a response to the message you received.
I’d literally take this opportunity to take the high ground. Get to work at 12 and insist upon having a catch-up chat. and essentially chew them out for being unprofessional.
If I can cover a shift, I usually will. But you have to ask. When they say I have to come in or whatever, that’s an automatic no for me.
Dogshit reply on your part. This isn’t setting boundaries this is stating you have a preference while promising them you’ll try your best while bending over backwards for them. For fucks sake you just got ordered around by some fuckwit who doesn’t even know how to ask politely. Only correct response here is to ignore messages past midnight from work, respond in the morning and say “It was past midnight, I was asleep, I cannot make that. Good luck.”

If it’s that short notice, you ask if the person’s available, and you accept a “no” if they’re not. You can’t just demand a person come in on their day off with that short notice.
