Fiestas del Pilar in Zaragoza: 10 to 18 October
Fiestas del Pilar runs in Zaragoza from Saturday 10 to Sunday 18 October 2026. It is the city’s biggest annual celebration, built around the feast day of the Virgen del Pilar on 12 October.
The Ofrenda de Flores, or floral offering, begins early on Monday 12 October. Individuals and groups in regional dress carry flowers through the city to Plaza del Pilar, where they form the enormous floral mantle surrounding the image of the Virgin.
Sitges Film Festival 2026: 8 to 18 October
Sitges – Festival Internacional de Cinema Fantàstic de Catalunya runs from 8 to 18 October 2026. The festival calls itself the world’s leading fantastic film festival and has long been a major fixture for fantasy, horror, science fiction and cult cinema.
The 59th edition includes Anima’t 2026, a programme dedicated to animated films. That makes Sitges a decent pick for animation fans as well as those after midnight screenings and more gruesome fare.
Open House architecture weekends
Open House events give visitors access to private homes, studios, public buildings and architectural landmarks that are not normally open to the public.

Open House Bilbao runs from 28 September to 4 October 2026, with 101 spaces in its programme.
Open House Valencia: 23 to 25 October
Open House Valencia takes place from 23 to 25 October 2026. Alongside the city programme, the event includes invited municipalities Cocentaina, with six participating architecture sites, and Xàtiva, with nine.
Open House Barcelona: 24 and 25 October
Open House Barcelona runs on 24 and 25 October 2026, covering Barcelona, L’Hospitalet de Llobregat, Sant Joan Despí and Sitges. The Sitges element creates a neat cultural overlap with the final weekend of the film festival.

Oktoberfest-style beer festivals
Oktoberfest events are a German import rather than a Spanish autumn tradition, though they have become a regular fixture in several larger cities.
