I figure that if I can manage to make one successful crop then my fear of killing plants will be conquered and I can get started on a chives plant and a bonsai puck. This is how much the onions have grown as of Friday Morning.

This is how it begins. My first step into gardening was shotglasses with supermarket green onions in them. Eventually they will need to be transplanted to soil, but as a first step just watch them grow and take it from there.

If you plant them in a pot on the window sill and they get some direct sun for a while every day, instead of pulling them up to use them, just cut some to use when you need it. I grow green onions outdoors and never pull them up, I cut them with scissors until the fall and then I let them go dormant. The next year, I have the cute little onions you see in pickled veggie jars.

I was doing this last fall and winter. Put them in a pot, then planted them in soil. Omg I have a green onion forest in my garden! Have been eating them since early spring, all from store brought ends! Always going to do this from now on.

Exactly why I couldn’t resist getting a Letpot and try some hydroponics 🤣 especially because our seasons are fairly short…
