Hi all. My XXL BGE lid has suddenly become extremely heavy to open. I’ve checked my band alignment, it looks okay. My only other thought are the springs aren’t supporting properly. Can’t find anything on YouTube. Please help. Full replacement is nearly $300, so looking for a cheaper solution before purchasing.

Upgrade your belly bands and hinge to the newest style, it’s a pretty simple fix and a much better design. I had to do that on my Large BGE it made all the difference in the world. Good luck!
Is the band/hinge assembly fully tightened? The top left center acorn nuts look like they’ve either slipped or were re-positioned? In any case, definitely try a full reset with the bands/hinge you have before buying a new one.
I’m not familiar with whether the 2XL install instructions are different, but your carriage bolts (in the center) aren’t really bent which also points to needing tightening.
BGE even sells a hardware pack of just the nuts/bolts for each size of band in case you find a broken or rusted one is causing the issue.
