Amigos.
I recently tried this Bordeaux blend in a wine bar. I swear the earth beneath my feet moved a little – it was life-alteringly delicious.
Before I splurge, wanted to ask your thoughts on the rest of their range, esp. Cab Sav, the Kadette range and Pinotage. I noticed that the wine Society UK's house Pinotage is actually made by these guys. Does the vintage of the Paul Sauer matter much? 2022 seems to be the most available.

The Paul Sauer is the star of the show, no question. Their Pinotage is what put them on the map though, it’s a benchmark for the grape and nothing like the banana bomb stuff people joke about. The Kadette range is a fantastic daily drinker for the price, but it won’t give you that same earth-moving moment.
Kanankop is one of the heavy hitters in SA. We had a nice private tasting there when we were there about three years ago. It’s a solid brand and widely available in export.
As for the Paul Sauer vintages, growing Bordeaux grapes in Stellenbosch can be dicey based on the season. 2021 was a killer year; 2022 reviews are pretty good. The advantage of the blend (and the reason the Bordelais did it in the first place) is that it lets you compensate for weather differences.
How does this compare to Boekenhootskloof range?
Their Cab is insane aswell
Their Pinotage is amazing and affordable.
I’ve never had the Paul Sauer but the Pinotage is well worth buying a few bottles to try.
It’s a special wine and Pinotage is special to SA so always fun to pull out with friends or give away.
