Rochester, N.Y. — Rochester’s Public Market hosted a vibrant celebration of Italian cuisine, education, and culture to mark Italian Heritage Day.
The day brought together the local Italian American community to honor and share their rich heritage.
Students of Italian from RIT and Nazareth College invited attendees to share their oral histories and personal stories, which were collected by city and county archivists.

Now in its fourth year, the event introduced a new speaker series exploring Italian American genealogy and migration stories.
“Having that fuller history helps us connect to ourselves and helps our children to know who they are, which is really important,” said Kathy Castana, Cugini di Roc committee member.
The event also featured various booths presenting winemaking and pasta-making demonstrations.
