Michael Lo Presti and Rachel Trewin have worked at some of Sydney’s most influential restaurants – Automata, Momofuku Seiobo, Sixpenny among them. But it was their time throwing dinner parties in a share house together that inspired the menu and vibe at Lo Presti’s.

There’s a convivial menu with a broad Mediterranean remit. One dish that captures the former is the bluefin tuna toast with marinated cime di rapa and preserved lemon on focaccia. Vegetables and olive oil dominate the rest of the menu, with dishes such as steamed zucchini and braised leeks with goat’s curd, and charred eggplant, jalapeno and coriander designed to fit into the dining style.

There’s plenty of wine, a short list of only four house cocktails and a minimal fit-out. Dining here feels like a dinner party at a friend’s place, and that’s the idea.
