George Clooney is preparing to open an upmarket Italian restaurant in Cotignac, further strengthening the Hollywood actor’s ties to the Var.

The new establishment is expected to open in spring 2027, close to the area where Clooney and his family have made their home in France.
The restaurant is planned for the centre of the Provençal village, with renovation work already underway ahead of an expected opening next spring.
The project is expected to focus on upmarket Italian cuisine, although details including the restaurant’s name, menu and exact opening date have yet to be revealed.
Local officials have confirmed that discussions are underway over the restaurant project.
While Clooney’s involvement does not yet appear formally in municipal documents, the development is moving forward, with work already underway ahead of the planned opening.

Clooney strengthens his ties to the Var
The restaurant marks another step in Clooney’s growing connection with the region.
The actor and his wife Amal bought the Domaine du Canadel near Brignoles in 2021 and have since become increasingly established in the Var.
Clooney has also become involved in local life, making a surprise appearance at the inauguration of the Cinéma Liberté in Brignoles in 2024.
He and his family became French citizens at the end of 2025.
The restaurant project brings together Clooney’s long-standing connection with Italy and his increasingly established life in the south of France.
