Bonfatto’s Italian Market and Corner Cafe offers delicious meals, pastries, lattes and products for purchase.
This Italian cafe, located at 401 W. High St, Bellefonte, Pennsylvania, just a short 15-minute drive from downtown State College, is by far worth the drive.
From breakfast to lunch, snacks and caffeinated drinks, Bonfatto’s is a great place for beginning your day, a date with a friend or a study session.
Inside the cafe, there are tables for you to sit and an amazing atmosphere built with natural lighting and inviting decor. You can also purchase Italian foods at the market part of this storefront, such as pasta, sauces, mozzarella, stuffed shells, charcuterie and more.
Toasted Marshmallow Latte
Taking even just one sip will change your life. The light flavor of marshmallow consumes the drink, reminding you of s’mores at a campfire.
The toasted marshmallow latte is so creamy from the milk and fits perfectly with the tone of the flavoring. I can’t say enough about how perfect this latte is.
It genuinely brought a smile to my face and brightened my mood with each sip of its sweet, light flavor.
Now, if you like to chug coffee, this is the one — the flavor isn’t too sweet, and with the creamy, smooth texture, it might be gone in a matter of minutes.

Apple Crisp Latte
The apple crisp latte at Bonfatto’s matches its name perfectly. Through the authentic, clear apple, cinnamon and toasted flavor, it tastes like you’re truly drinking a slice of apple crisp.
What I love about the lattes here is that Bonfatto’s espresso is not too bitter — it’s smooth and does not overpower a drink, matches well with the latte flavors and is completed with creamy milk.
I got this latte with oat milk, but I think I would’ve enjoyed it more with whole milk or another variety, since the oat milk didn’t provide the same creaminess as the toasted marshmallow latte. Next time, I would make this change, and it would be even closer to perfect.

Bomboloni
Wow — I have never had a better donut than this bomboloni.
It’s round and normally filled with a flavored pastry cream inside, but I ordered one without.
I have never tasted a dough so soft. It was chewy, but yet so fluffy and airy — I couldn’t get enough of it. It was not too sweet at all. The dough had a light sweetness on its own, and the sugar on top was a perfect addition.
And might I add, I’m not much of a donut person, and this one truly changed my perspective. This soft donut, with its light sugar coating, was spectacular — I could go on and on.

Smoked Pancetta, Egg and Cheese
At Bonfatto’s, customers can custom-make their own egg and cheese sandwich.
With provolone cheese, you can choose to add either smoked pancetta, sweet Italian sausage or rosemary ham on a variety of different breads such as bagels, English muffins, croissants, focaccia, sourdough and more.
I got a smoked pancetta, egg and cheese on sourdough. The sourdough is soft on the inside but has a crispy exterior with a brushing of oil on top.
However, I think it might have been a bit better on another bread, like a croissant or a bagel, but that was just my personal preference for the textures of an egg sandwich.
Another perk of this dish was its size. At least for me, this was big enough that I was able to turn it into two meals. Each sourdough slice was about half a foot long, and, with the egg, cheese and pancetta inside, it was very filling.

Vodka Chicken Parm Panini
You know the cheese pull that everyone looks for in mozzarella sticks?
Well, Bonfatto’s chicken parm panini outdoes the cheese pull of any mozzarella stick I’ve ever had, as it’s so stringy, gooey and flavorful.
This panini is again on the same sourdough as the egg and cheese sandwich, and is even more perfect in this meal. The oil on top combines with the Italian seasonings of the sauce, creating such great flavors in each bite, all with a crunch.
The vodka sauce is smooth, not so creamy that it would make your stomach ache, as a cheesy pasta might do, but just enough to perfect the classic vodka sauce flavor and texture.
The chicken cutlets are pounded thin and breaded, fulfilling the prophecy of the vodka chicken parm.
I would eat this meal every day if I could. Bonfatto’s perfected the flavors and textures so well I’d now prefer to have this dish in panini form forever.
