Jordan Creek Town Center is about to swap a long-vacant Tex-Mex address for a Mediterranean name with real momentum.

Meddys, the polished casual concept born in Wichita, Kansas, is moving into the former On The Border Mexican Grill & Cantina space with a 2027 opening.

Founded in 2014 by Alex Harb, Meddys grew from his mother’s Lebanese recipes and the bright, herb‑driven dishes he learned to cook as a child. What began as a single Wichita restaurant has expanded across Oklahoma, Kansas, the Kansas City metro and Omaha, building a reputation for clean flavors, generous portions and a dining experience that feels elevated.

The Jordan Creek Town Center opening marks the brand’s first move into Iowa and its latest step in a steady Midwest expansion. In February, Harb announced plans to open in Lee’s Summit, Missouri, which debuted at the end of September, add another Omaha location and enter new markets including Columbia and St. Louis in Missouri and Des Moines.

What does Meddys look like inside?

Meddys interiors tend to follow a consistent design language with warm woods, wicker pendant lights, stone accents and dining rooms washed in natural light. The look is modern Mediterranean with a rustic edge. Diners can look for clean lines, soft neutrals and just enough detail to feel intentional without drifting into theme‑restaurant territory.

If the Jordan Creek build‑out mirrors Wichita and Omaha, expect a bright, contemporary space that feels like a welcome contrast to the Tex‑Mex footprint that preceded it. Other Meddys locations feature a signature olive tree in the middle of the dining room.

Customers order at the counter, choose any table and then settle in as staff delivers plates, refills drinks and checks in throughout the meal. Complimentary pita arrives automatically with olive oil and za’atar seasoning.

Service is fast enough for a weekday lunch, polished enough for a Friday night and flexible enough for families, groups or solo diners who want something fresh without committing to a full sit‑down production.

What to order at Meddys

The menu leans on a handful of dishes that define the brand. The hummus, with an option to top it with grilled chicken or beef, is a signature dish. The garlicky chicken has a loyal following for its marinated flavor and generous portion size. Falafel arrives crisp on the outside and tender within, a reliable favorite. Shawarma bowls with lamb or chicken anchor the “healthy, fast, affordable” identity, layering marinated meats with rice, vegetables and sauce.

Baba ghanoush, Spanish eggplant, grilled citrus salmon and fattoush or tabbouleh salads are among the favorites.

The restaurant offers gluten-free, vegan, dairy-free, vegetarian and halal options.

What else is coming to Jordan Creek Town Center?

Jordan Creek’s dining scene has been in motion all year. Kura Revolving Sushi Bar opens Oct. 22 in the former Panera Bread space, bringing conveyor‑belt sushi and capsule‑toy rewards to the mall.

The owners of Istanbul Grill Cafe & Bakery in Urbandale expanded with Doner Street, a halal Turkish restaurant located in the food court at Jordan Creek Town Center. The specialty here is doner, layers of spiced chicken, lamb or beef stacked into an inverted cone and cooked on a vertical spit, sliced as they’re ordered.

Yard House is under construction next door to Meddys, promising 100‑plus taps and a high‑energy dining room in 2027. The restaurant offers burgers, sandwiches, tacos, pizza, steaks, chicken dishes, seafood, noodle dishes, salads and gluten-sensitive options. The restaurant takes over the former Joe’s Crab Shack with a projected April 2027 opening.

Ugly Dumpling is taking over the former Bar Louie space, adding modern Asian comfort food such as soup dumplings and dim sum just south of Jordan Creek Town Center next to K-POT Hot Pot & Korean Dining.

Inside the mall, Exotic Snack Guys opened near The Cheesecake Factory and Rally House. The fast-growing retail brand specializes in importing and selling rare, viral and hard-to-find international snacks and beverages, such as regional Kit Kats from Europe and South America, unique international Lays and exotic sodas like Peach Fanta and Cucumber Pepsi.

No replacement has been announced for Bravo! Italian Kitchen, which closed in early September.

On The Border Mexican Grill & Cantina closed at Jordan Creek Town Center in February 2025. The West Des Moines On the Border opened in October 2004 as part of the first wave of restaurants on the ring outside the mall.
