Due to a rainy forecast, Columbia’s Italian Festival has been rescheduled for Saturday, Oct. 17 from 1-7 p.m.

The festival is still bringing Italian culture to Finlay Park, and visitors won’t need a passport – or to break the bank – to experience a free day of fun for the whole famiglia .

Guests can enjoy Italian cuisine, local vendors, live music, cultural performances and activities throughout the park.

Food and drink vendors have cooked up Italian specials like the Amalfi Glow lemonade from Twist & Sip, as well as cannolis, olive oil cake and Italian wedding cookies from Sweet Pea’s Ice Cream.

Entertainment such as Italian sword fighting, Palmetto Opera and ColaJazz performances will run throughout the event as well to give guests a taste of la dolce vita.

A ceremony is slated for 2 p.m. on the park’s main stage featuring remarks from festival organizer Tripp Roche, Columbia Mayor Daniel Rickenmann and Richland County Council Vice Chairman Derek Pugh.

“This is a chance to celebrate the Italian heritage that has helped shape Columbia and bring people together for a great day at Finlay Park,” said Roche. “We’re excited to welcome everyone to the festival.”

Parking is available at Arsenal Hill, the PJ Cannon Parking Facility and along Taylor and Lincoln Streets. Accessible parking is available at the Finlay Park entrance at 1227 Taylor St. and at the Cannon Parking Facility, 1110 Lady St.
