Technically it's safe to eat as they are dead. But still. 😭

Swordfish commonly have parasites. Nature doing its thing. Wonderous as well as nasty ass.

You’re eating a fish. Can’t you eat the worm that steals the fish’s food?
Opeope89
I mean it’s cooked, so technically it’s fine, but I wouldn’t want to eat it. It’s normal though.

I guess I deserved it for scrolling while eating my tinned mackerel. Thanks 😘🙈

All forms of flesh must be consumed
turquoise_amethyst

There is a circle of life aspect to existence we unfortunately must make peace with in order to survive.
I stopped eating lots of foods for a while due to the amount of nasty things found in food
I started starving a lot between “no parasite” meals.
Now as a 6’5” 28 year old man my BMI is considered critically low at 15.
Now I eat sardines cuz it’s one of the only foods that makes it easier for me to get up and move.
But every tin takes 30 minutes – 1 hour to consume. Because I can’t stand the amount of parasites and nasty things found in food. But I’m literally starving to death in real time because of this fear. It’s ridiculous.
OP, or any other reader, find some way to make peace with this now and don’t let this impact your future experiences please, because this rabbit hole is terrifying to delve in to.
That being said I wouldn’t have eaten anymore either haha

Yes …
It’s cooked and canned . It’s safe . It’s protein ….I eaten thousands of sardines, anchovies and other fishes (probably ) …reckon half of them had parasites of some sort

I probably wouldn’t even notice.

I’d toss the can but I wouldn’t stop eating sardines in general.

They most likely died when the fish got frozen. If not, getting cooked and canned definitely got them. A dead parasite won’t hurt you. Just fish the worm out (no pun intended) and eat your mackerel.

Just remove them, it’s fine!
Stop looking too closely at your food!
It’s harmless. Eat it.
