Argentine producer Bodega Argento is returning to the UK off-trade after a hiatus, launching a renewed range of organic and Fairtrade wines.
Major retailers including Sainsbury’s, Tesco and Co-op will stock the range, which encompasses both established blends and single-vineyard expressions from Mendoza and Patagonia.
According to Argento: “With vineyards in Mendoza’s key sub-regions of Alto Agrelo, Altamira and Gualtallary, and access to top vineyards in southern Patagonia, Bodega Argento is uniquely placed to bring wines to market that promote regionality, varietal expression and terroir individuality to adventurous wine drinkers, encouraging experimentation across price points within the Argentine category.”
The rollout, which will continue through 2026 and 2027, has already seen two single-vineyard wines from Patagonia – a Pinot Noir 2022 and Chardonnay 2023 – made available through Tesco, both priced at £16.50.
Further releases planned for 2027 include a Malbec and Cabernet Franc from Agrelo, alongside Chardonnay and Malbec sourced from Gualtallary.
Franck Noguiez, MD of parent company Grupo Avinea, commented: “Argento is a benchmark for premium Argentinian wine today. Through sustained investment and commitment to sustainable winemaking, we are uniquely placed to answer the demand for sustainable, quality-driven wines from Argentina that show off the incredible potential of our country’s vineyards, grape varieties, and sub-regions to wine lovers all over the world.”
He added: “We believe in the potential of Argento in the UK and are looking forward to working with our partners to bring more exciting propositions out to market over the next 12 months.”
