(Newberg, Oregon) – Between the valley towns of Portland and Salem, and not far from the greens and winding highways of the Oregon Coast Range, one of the state’s most iconic regions sits rather quietly by comparison. Oregon’s wine country region seems to always be burbling just under the surface, poised to take over the tourism show – at least for a bit. (Photos Oregon Coast Beach Connection)

Come late November, it does. The Oregon Wine Country Thanksgiving festival reigns supreme from the foothills of the Coast Range and into Portland. This year it happens November 20 – 22 and November 26 – 29.

But wine country gets cooking with holiday cheer even before that. There’s quite a range of happenin’s in November that begin to have a holiday theme (you could find more at the Willamette Valley Visitors), leading up to and including the big Thanksgiving vino shindig.

November 7 – Philomath Frolic Holiday Craft Fair

Holiday shopping and community spirit come together at the annual Philomath Frolic Holiday Craft Fair, returning to Philomath Elementary School. Visitors can browse a wide variety of handmade gifts, artisan crafts, and locally made creations while supporting area vendors and a good cause. This year’s event partners with Philomath Middle School to help raise funds for the school’s Outdoor School Program, with 100 percent of Craft Fair proceeds benefiting the effort. Organizers invite the public to shop local, support student education, and kick off the holiday season. Hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday. Venue: Philomath Elementary School, 239 S. 16th Street, Philomath.

November 11 – Glow with the Flow Holiday Party

Resonate Health Spa will light up the precursor holiday season with its Glow with the Flow Holiday Party, an evening designed to blend relaxation, beauty, and celebration. Guests will have the chance to experience glow-inspired mini spa treatments from practitioners Sunnie, Roshel, Jonathan and Heather, while taking advantage of holiday skincare and beauty specials. The event also features a prize wheel, decadent treats, and champagne poured by Varnum Vintners. Organizers promise an unforgettable evening where, as they say, “when the lights go out, the glow begins.” Venue: Resonate Health Spa, 2119 Portland Road, Newberg.

November 14 – Salud! The Oregon Pinot Noir Auction: The Gala

One of Oregon wine country’s premier social events returns with Salud! The Oregon Pinot Noir Auction: The Gala. The black-tie celebration will bring together wine enthusiasts, vintners and supporters for an evening of exceptional Pinot Noir, world-class hospitality, fine dining and spirited live bidding. Set in the heart of the Willamette Valley, the gala serves as one of the signature events of the renowned Salud auction weekend. Venue: The Allison Inn & Spa, 2525 Allison Lane, Newberg.

November 20 – Newveau Festival

The Newveau Festival will celebrate the completion of harvest season with a one-day gathering dedicated to wine, food and community. Inspired by the traditions of Beaujolais Nouveau, the festival shines a spotlight on the people who make Oregon’s wine industry possible, from vineyard workers to winemakers and local chefs. Attendees can enjoy exclusive nouveau-style wine releases crafted from this year’s harvest, along with comforting dishes prepared by talented local chefs. Designed to be welcoming and unpretentious, the event aims to connect wineries, wine lovers and community members in a celebration of the valley’s agricultural heritage and harvest accomplishments. Venue: 306 N. Main Street, Newberg.

November 26 – Thanksgiving Buffet Experience

Thanksgiving takes on a gourmet touch at The Allison Inn & Spa’s annual Thanksgiving Buffet Experience. Guests are invited to gather with family and friends for a festive holiday lunch featuring a lavish buffet of seasonal favorites and decadent desserts. The menu highlights the flavors of the Willamette Valley while offering a warm and inviting setting for celebrating the Thanksgiving holiday with good food and good company. Venue: The Allison Inn & Spa, 2525 Allison Lane, Newberg.

November 28 – Chardonnay & Crab Soirée

Wine and seafood lovers will come together at Ambar Estate for the Chardonnay & Crab Soirée, an afternoon showcasing some of Oregon’s most celebrated flavors. Guests can savor fresh live crab and oysters paired with the estate’s Chardonnay while enjoying panoramic vineyard views. The open house-style event offers both indoor and outdoor seating, creating a relaxed atmosphere for guests to celebrate the bounty of the season and the beauty of Oregon wine country. Venue: Ambar Estate, 12550 NE Worden Hill Road, Newberg.

A fantastic stay in the coastal woods. A bit of a drive to the beach but absolutely worth every second – and it’s still quite the scenic road. Weather a little nicer out here than the beach. Nehalem Hotel Review
