Root crops you don't have to panic and dig them up in the fall especially in colder areas carrots parsnips turnips covered with straw and water repelling cover can harvest even after snow fall technology snow aids in insulation from frost pentration in the ground apples can even be stored outdoors use old fashioned apple box fill and stack them cover well with insulated tarp apples create there own heat as part the ripping process the cooler they are kept longer then last have kept them all winter long by spring bit dehydrated but still good for cooking apple sauce or pies
Brussel sprouts do well in winter. Well in zone 8A they do anyway
Question: I love my Lemon Thyme but have trouble getting it to return in the spring. It's in pots this year, so you think if I move to the screened porch they will do any better??
I had some beets that didn’t amount to much, so I just left them. They produced good tasting greens all winter , we don’t have a super severe winter, and then went to seed the next summer. I should plant some of those seeds and see what happens.
Zone 4 here. Brussels sprouts. In nov and even into dec, I have gone and brushed the snow off my plants to harvest the little buggers! And the freezing temps make them taste superb! If you leave chard in and have planted them thickly in a bed, in the spring they start growing early and you can get a harvest b4 you even get your gargen preped! Turnips and turnip greens. The turnips of course you leave in the ground until AFTER a good HARD frost to sweeten them or they will be bitter but the greens are a great LATE fall/early winter crop of fresh greens. Loved this video. I dont like kale but in the comments ppl mentioned drying them and adding them to foods to enrich the nutritional value. Awesome idea… thanks!
I definitely prefer kale over spinach
To grow spinach and kale in fall and winter. Should they are ready be started or can you start from seed in October (zone 5b)? We are in the 60s during the day right now 40s at night.
Bok choy. Self seeding have about 4 crops a year.
Siberian kale siberian pomegranate
POTATOES
Also if you marinate kale for about an hour it will be tender

I get full sun all day in my living room. My ceramic tiles soak in the heat, heat my house! Can I grow kale or lettuce in pots indoors? It's only me..I don't need much.
I'm going to grow mushrooms in my unused bathroom shower. I live in tiny condo. No room for hydro type garden indoors. Can I grow any veggies I side in full sun? Or do they need alot if room. I'm thinking..asparagus, kale, cherry tomatoes, basil, parsley, tarragon. I can't grow outside…in a condo. Please let me know. Thank you so much fir your video.

This is my first time to hear you, this is very interesting…….I keep lookin at the tall plant beside your right ear………I have no idea what that plant is, but it looks so tender and delicious……..please tell us about it, and when and where to grow and in what zones and what time of year…….I am enjoying your video……thanks for answering if you have time….
OH, and can you show us a picture of a cold frame….?
Plus green onion 😉
Just subbed
Collards – very hardy. I have knocked a covering of ice off the leaves in my mother's garden in zone 8 and cooked like spinach.
How about peas? I'm surprised he didn't mention them! They can be planted in late Summer and fall, and will still be ok with a light frost. I don't know if they would survive into winter, though. I'll have to look it up.
Cilantro! Bounces back after freezes. Snow will take it down, however.
Omg I love Kale y'all need to saute w mushrooms and onions and extra Virgin Olive oil 🎈🎉🎈🎉🎈🎉

Hello In N Texas Something I can grow cabbage , garlic, greens, broccoli and cauliflower. Thanks for your video.
Mache is awesome. A delicacy that was once considered a nuisance. Today it is served in high-end restaurants all around Spain.
Did you know that Carrots don't necessarily need to be orange there are red, yellow white purple as well
I have had a French Sorrel Which grows year round! It makes a great pesto instead of using basil. Great in soups and salads❣️🥰 We get very little freezes here in Santa Barbara, California. I have even grown broccoli in the winter months. Thank you for your list – very useful🥰❣️
