I have made homemade breads for 50 years. Yeast DOES grow in cold water, in the refrigerator, even in the FREEZER. Warm water is fine IF you do not make it too hot. HOT kills the yeasts. (rule of thumb, test water on inside of your wrist. If it is too hot for baby formula, it is too hot for yeasts.
Can you do this with pumpkins too? And will you get the same or similar result?
