Vacationing in Florida for a few days, so I went to the local Total Wine (no small shops nearby that I’m aware of) to see what I could find as I’ve been keen on trying out more US wines which are hard to get where I live.
Oily and fleshy as one would expect from Viognier, with a nose and pallate leaning towards caramel and bruised pears and apples. Medium finish. At 15% Abv it packs quite a punch. I don’t think I’ve had a non fortified white as strong as this one and at times the alcohol did become a bit too noticeable.
I don’t have much experience with this varietal, but overall I thought it was nice. Enjoyed solo by the pool with my dad over some nice weather.
