Hi, I’ve never been to either of these restaurants, but I was wondering which one y’all think would be more worth it for Restaurant Week: The Dining Room at Gramercy Tavern or The Bar Room at The Modern? Are there any standout Restaurant Week menu items from any of these two restaurants? I know that The Bar Room restaurant week menu does not offer a dessert course, but are there desserts from The Dining Room menu that are a total must-try (I do have a sweet tooth)?

I’ve been to both of these rooms but not during restaurant week. They’re both great, very solid food and service. I would guess you can’t go wrong with either one. Fairly close in terms of taste and value. The main dining room at The Modern however is on a much higher level.
I’ve been to the Modern for dinner and the service and food were both excellent, highly recommend dining there. And definitely get their dessert, I didn’t have the ones they’re offering on the RW menu but I know it’ll be good!
The Modern Bar room +1000 – Gramercy’s main dining room is overrated and their bar room is much better and more lively- better ambiance with the mural and their amazing floral arrangements. Plus you most likely will get tucked in booths in the back if you are a single or a two top for the main dining room doing the restaurant week menu. If your schedule is flexible, I’d go to Gramercy’s bar room before the dinner rush – sit at the main bar and get a cocktail and app and their burger. I def recommend splurging on the truffles for the tasting at the modern – they really do it up.
Might be an unpopular opinion, but Gramercy Tavern has gone downhill (still great, just not as great as it used to be) in the last few years. I’d do the Modern in a heartbeat, especially since their dessert option is a la carte and not just the built in RW options

Just had a great lunch at the Modern for restaurant week! Worth every penny and then some!
I love The Modern. I would go there.
