Carnitas tacos from Carnitas El Rincón in California

  1. These tacos were great. Great value when considering the insane amount of meat in each taco (probably more than most burritos)… $3.50 each. Really nice tortilla used too. Bold move of them to only serve one meat: carnitas (and barbacoa on weekends). The red (medium) salsa was my favorite salsa. They appear to be a small chain with several locations. I’ll definitely be back.

EDIT: [Also going to include some other Mexican food I got while visiting home.](https://imgur.com/a/CTwPUk0) First picture is 2 tacos from Don Rafa’s Taco Shop. I think I got suadero and carnitas though I don’t remember. Not super notable to be honest but it wasn’t bad. Second picture is an al pastor mulita from Tacos La Palmita. I’d heard from several friends that this was the best thing on the menu and it definitely didn’t let me down. Would definitely go back, though the portion was a bit smaller than I’d like for $5. Last is a chorizo and papas pambazo from Charly’s Super Tortas Chilangas. This thing was amazing and quite a bit spicier than I expected.

One other thing I forgot to take a picture of was an asada burrito from Tacos El Mayita. I live in NYC now and I always forget just how much better Mexican is in California, especially asada. This place has the absolute best asada I’ve ever had anywhere, including Sonora in Mexico. People like to complain about this place because they have the highest prices for a taco truck in the area, but $10 for a burrito isn’t entirely crazy IMO.

Next time you’re in Sacramento, check out El Bramido. Best tacos and burritos I’ve ever had. Their al pastor is my favorite.
