In this video I do a tour of the vegetable and fruits garden with raised beds. I pick some courgettes, zucchini, potatoes, mangetout and gooseberries. I show the raised beds I’ve built and give some hints and tips based on my own experience.

  1. Hello again Paul.I have a vision of your pigeons with hobnail boots on.How lovely to see a different aspect of your garden. We grew the thonless blackberry and I read one should prune back yo just a couple of canes. We did this and got hundreds of berries. There is nothing one earth as good as a new potatoe. Also, do you have any tips on pruning gooseberries.I end up with more leaves than fruit. This was another very enjoyable 15 minutes in your company Paul.Thank you again.Keep well

  2. Good you clear up the name of the zucchini, you do have a big place for all your plantings, everything is looking good, I was also hoping to see some strawberries, I try one this year so far nothing 😊

  3. Your veggies are looking great. It's difficult to balance birds versus vegetables. I planted a thornless blackberry for the first time this year and it is certainly vigorous. It is outgrowing the support canes so I am going to have to come up with something quick.

  4. Wow everything looks really great Paul! U need to tell me how do u keep everything so green and luscious?? I would love to know. And what a great job on veggies- nothing better than growing on ur own food. Curious to know : how do u cool the leeks? (Once their drown fully)

  5. What is the hedge? How often do you prune it and do you have enough room to get in there during the season? How deep is this area of the yard. Lots growing.

  6. Thank you for the garden tour. Looks like you will have a decent crop this season. I always consider it trial or error since you have to compete with the wildlife. It always feels good when you grow something from seed or small plants. Have a nice day.

  7. Hi Paul, you can try 1 tsp baking soda to one quart water and spray on your courgette leaves to combat mildew. I am trying this on my phlox right now. All Best!

  8. Lovely video Paul. Much as we love the birds, they can be little rascals and this year has been the worst I've known. You'd think they'd be grateful for the seeds and mealworms I give them on a daily basis but they've paid me back by chomping on my young
cosmos and mesembryanthemums. Thank goodness the plants have recovered.

  9. You do have a problem with pigeons and blackbirds, but your garden in thriving nevertheless … I wish I had some of your amazing zucchinis!
In Australia we have problems with possums, bowerbirds and bush turkeys every time I try to grow veggies. So apart from herbs and tiny tim tomatoes, nothing survives!

  10. Another goodie Paul. Your soil looks beautiful! Do you know what variety of raspberries you are growing? Hydrogen peroxide is good for powdery mildew followed by baking powder. You can check out the concentration levels. Cinnamon is also good for funguses. Catch you next time πŸ‘

  11. It is interesting how one's childhood affects one's attitude to plants. To this day I can barely look at raspberries (extremely invasive), gooseberries, currents, strawberries unless they are on the greengrocer's shelves or on my plate πŸ™‚ I still associate them with the boring chore of collecting them in my parents' (currently mine) garden. A few old bushes have survived until today, unfortunately πŸ˜‰ The childhood memories combined with the regular annual slug invasion and unsuitable growing conditions (limited sunlight) have discouraged me from planting any vegetables too. I am currently trying to cope with the "tonnes" of apples my old apple trees have produced this year; I am running out of ideas how to dispose of them, to be honest. The compost heap cannot accommodate this year's impressive crop.

  12. Hola Sr. Paul !! Estaba esperando esa parte de sus vΓdeos , me hizo recordar mi infancia y adolescencia en el campo , gracias por compartir excelente trabajo placentero πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘β€πŸŒΏπŸŒ±πŸŒžπŸ†πŸŒ½πŸ₯¬πŸ₯•πŸ’πŸ§…πŸ₯œπŸ₯”πŸ… Felicitaciones !! Saludos🌿⭐🌱. Marta

  13. Hi Paul great garden tour TFS we get Pigeons 🐦sometimes on our balcony , let’s keep connected have a great week Cheers πŸ·πŸ‘πŸΊ

  14. Nice one Paul! Loved the triumphant walk of the pigeon. πŸ˜›

It would be entertaining to see what you do with the rhubarb. πŸ˜‰ Same for the gooseberries…good of you to carry over the saved audio to the newer video clip.

Is the Lemon Balm similar to Lemon Grass, in that it naturally repels the mosquitos?

Excellent presentation! Great share!! The harvesting bits were my favorite. (Y)

  15. I would love to have the space to grow veg. It’s something I would really like to do but we wouldn’t have space for our little boy to play and I do like a lawn but your place is huge the space you have just seems to goes on and on. Your very lucky you have great space to do all that. It’s great πŸ‘

  16. You are fantastic Gardener….Sir!!
    I love those Potatoes….So delicious…πŸ˜‹
    Thank you….Good wishes…Sir!!

  17. A lovely collection of goodies. A nice manageable size. 😁 I grow herbs in the ground and in pots and a few tomatoes in pots but I have to be ever vigilant that the deer don't get the tomatoes! I would like to build a garden room to keep them out. It's on the list.

  18. I've never had much success with my gooseberries Paul so I'm going to plant some lemon balm around them to see if that helps. I haven't grown french beans or runners yet so will try those as well. I do love my leeks and they are so easy but very useful in the kitchen. I only plant mine out in their final positions after lifting potatoes as they stay compact and take ages to outgrow the pot I sow them in. It's marvellous because they are happy in the garden to be harvested as needed throughout winter. I love cabbages but as I live near woods they would be decimated by pigeons if not well netted. Thank you for sharing your veg and fruit growing with us. God bless and keep you safe. v

  19. A potro bag takes up very little room, and is ideal for any expensive types like Fir Apple. Lemon Balm makes lovely herb tea and will mix with potted plants near the door. Leeks will grow and grow and stay in the soil for a couple of years. Fennel – oh those roots – but also makes terrific energising tea.

  20. Fabulous. Blackberries back in Newfoundland grow wild like a ground cover. They are like small blueberries. Lots of flies around when they are ready to pick for harvest. They were my mom's favorite berry. She would make a pound cake with them in it. I however was not fond of the small stones inside them. They are truly a chef's culinary treasure with endless possibilities. I may have to have a go at Leek growing though! Thanks for the tutorial.

  21. It is lovely to grow your own fruit and veg. Are you growing any this year? Did you get around to changing the beds?
