The allium family is made up of onions, spring onions, shallots, garlic and leeks.

After curing our alliums we now need to prepare them for storage!

Welcome to the No Dig Norfolk Gardener and our no dig/no till garden where we grow vegetables. We garden in zone 9a. Although we grow our veg from our back garden it is very much set up like allotment gardening UK – allotment life. Our passion is vegetable gardening, bigger harvests and no dig gardening. You will see how growing your own food is so easy.

  1. You NEED to try Elista shallots from seed, i threw a few in the end of a bed after the zebrune failed, not sone anything to them other than watered when it was ready dry, they have thrown up some whoppers!

  2. Well that was very inspiring. The only problem I have is that Mrs J is saying "Why can't we grow onions and shallots like that?" I've never done well with them. Ho Hum. I'll have another go next year and follow your varieties and timings more closely.

BTW. Are you attending RHS Malvern Show in September?

  3. Thanks Mr. and Mrs. W that was an informative video for me. I'm fairly new at growing alliums in bulk for long-term storage so it's always helpful to see how others cure and store. I've been curing my garlic and onions for around a month in the shed before moving into the basement for the duration of the summer until the garage cools down enough in the Autumn. Sounds like you go even longer though. How long do you let your garlic cure?

  4. Just watched your how to grow shallots from seed really good thankyou.Just wondered which ones grew best the multi sown or the single thankyou both for all your lovely videos 😊
