  1. John, I just made this recipe and mine did not turn out at all like yours. My batter was way way way too thick and dense. I am thinking 2.5 cups of flour is not correct. When I put the flour in the bowl it didn't even look like yours at all. Can you please advise if you don't mind sharing the correct amounts. If not yours looks great anyway.

  2. So, so good!! And easy! My 8 and almost 6 year old daughters made this start to finish almost entirely by themselves. I had to help scrape down the bowl but otherwise it was all them. We will be saving this to make again!

  4. Delicious!! I ran out of plain flour so I had to use half almond and it still worked. Next time I am going to make double the frosting and put half while it’s warm and half once it’s cooled so it absorbs a bit. Also recommend more zest in the batter.

    A pound cake should be dense as far as I remember from catering college

  11. I learned recently that KitchenAid mixers can be adjusted. There's a screw you can use to raise and lower the shaft so you get proper clearance and you don't get that area at the bottom that doesn't get mixed. Supposedly the proper way to test is to toss a dime in the bowl, and watch it as the mixer works. It should be just barely getting bumped by the beater attachment, moving a half an inch or so every time it gets hit.

  23. It turned out delicious, but i made some critical mistakes: my butter was way too soft and I over-mixed the batter. now i know better for next time, also i must get a proper razer for zesting because using the cheese grater was awful
