  1. This is so funny. I just make knishes using leftover cornbeef, cabbage and a little potato. Put all through the cuisinart. I made one package of instant mashed potatoes and added 2 eggs and flour. My dough was nothing like your lovely dough. Mine was very messy to work with to make them round … fried in Coconut oil to more than golden brown. Still very delicious.

  2. I definitely have “wish,” because Corned Beef was a few times a year expense, but now it’s just tooooo expensive! Though this has me drooling 😍

  3. Oh my Lord! Those look amazing!!! Quick question, could leftover potatoes that were cooked with corn beef dinner be used? I always seem to have a lot leftover. Love your channel ❤

  4. The potato mixture looks so delicious! I would have made patties out of that and pan fried. I wouldn't bother with the dough. Thanks chef John!

  5. Chicken schmaltz is a must 🙂 A classic and very Ashkenazi Jewish dish but you mixed dairy with meat so it is not kosher. And BTW, the Irish got their taste of corned beef from the Jews.

  6. If you don't want to make dough, you can totally get away with purchased puff pastry dough if you roll it a little bit so doesn't puff a lot. Everything else is the same down to the hand chop.

My favorite version of this has buckwheat + fried onions inside. No potatoes.

  7. By the way guys, Smooth Soft and Elastic will be playing at Gabe’s this weekend, no cover charge

  8. I /just/ learned about knish from a History channel documentary

How is it that we as Americans love potatoes so much but I've /never/ heard of these before?!

I'm super glad you did a video on them though 😂 I'm really wanting one now cause it sounds kind of like a fat pierogi
