  1. My Husband is Italian (from Firenze) and we live in Spain. We eat this all the time. We call those tomatoes, tomatoes (not heirloom) and we would not use balsamic vinegar, put it on the table in case someone wants it, but its too strong a flavor for this salad. You could use some Oregano on it though. Serve it along side a good bread and that famous Spanish cured ham with melon and we eat this all summer when we are not making a bar BBQ

  2. I am italian and its perfect.. Some times i use dry from fresh origano, in sred of pepper.. Try it 🤤🤗💕

  3. Heirloom tomatoes are so incredibly beautiful and delicious!
I’m a big fan of individual servings. Buffets are not my thing at all for various reasons (largely dietary and hygiene related). I absolutely adore caprese salad and now I wish I had the ingredients to make it tomorrow for my birthday dinner!

  4. I made this when we went camping last fall! It was amazing!!! My hubs was completely impressed! Bahaha!!

  5. I dont know if this was mentioned below, but isnt the point of a Caprese Salad that the colours of the ingredients the same as the colours of the Italian flag? Therefore, although I also love heritage tomatoes, wouldn't it be best to use red heritage tomatoes only? I love your videos John and your sense of humour.

  6. Simple but oh so satisfying.
Remember to sprinkle salt on tomatoes to bring out flavour
And you can use Thai basil for a slight lemon flavour or original Italian sweet basil.

  7. Very simple yet delicious. Thanks chef for sharing this wonderful recipe

  8. I don't like Mozarella in water, it tastes too bland and……watery. Can I just use the one wrapped in plastic?

  9. That looks amazing!! What's also amazing is to get some Jared tuna or albacore from Italy or Spain. Perfect on top and maybe a few capers.
