  7. I'm from Chicago I ordered the blue crabs from Louisiana to make this. And followed everything and made twice the amount from here my only struggle was making that roux dark. It was medium dark but it was so delicious still!

  11. And I love how detailed and yet simple this recipe is. One question I have is what do you do with the discarded blue crab and shrimp that you used to make the stock? Do you put it in the gumbo or is it just trash at that point? It looked like you used fresh crab for the gumbo so I was curious.

  12. peace and love but a lot of the time to cook for this seems off as well as not advisable for beginners; this recipe reminds me of when I tried to make Paella as a beginner. It worked out fine but lord was I overwhelmed and although I did not screw it up I did not have the skillset to make It "good" or what the recipe was designed to achieve as far as taste.

    I am from Africa and we cook gumbo differently. In our dish, okra is the main ingredient.
