“Leave the gun, take the cannoli” – is there a more iconic line spoken in Francis Ford Coppola’s The Godfather? I mean, apart from almost every other line of dialogue? In a film defined by its own endless defining moments, food still manages to stand out as a memorable supporting character. I mean, it wouldn’t be much of an Italian mobster film without it.

  1. 1/16th of an inch…
Just use cm and mm. It's an italian tradition

  2. In Godfarher 3 Conny kills Don Altobello with a canoli at the opera house, saying it was his favorite and a birthday present. It was a pretty major scene. It marked the end of the Godfather in her line "sleep Godfather, sleep" since Don Altobello was her Godfather. 😀

  3. Babish, you gotta make Clemenza's sauce from later in the movie. He even gives Michael a detailed recipe. In the film it's not clear if it was a sauce for spaghetti or something else. I'd like to see if Babish can add his own twist to it.

  4. Hello.. 😁

These cannolis are awesome, but what isn't so awesome is cross referencing 2 recipes and neither recipie mentioning how to properly boil lard.

Do NOT treat is as though it was water. DO NOT cover your lard, and DO NOT continue heating until you see bubbles..

    Learned this the hard way…

Just make sure the lard melts, and then you can put the cannolis in. AFTER you put them in, you will see bubbles. This is at least true for crisco, and it will say this on the label

  5. Is 48 ounces of ricotta correct? I have that down as around 1400g which is a lot of cheese!!

  6. Fun fact: the line in the script was just "Leave the gun."; actor Richard Castellano adlibbed the cannoli part.
