We challenged chefs of three different skill levels – amateur John, home cook Daniel, and professional chef Saúl Montiel from Cantina Rooftop – to make us their best caesar salad. Once each level of chef had presented their creations, we asked expert food scientist Rose to explain the choices each made along the way. Which caesar salad makes you want to ask “Et tu, crouton?”

  1. Please, when saying your making something, try to stay in the ball park of the recipe instead of going "My X is this".

  2. Everytime I see a grilled salad these days, I think about that Kitchen Nightmares episode where Gordon announced to the entire restaurant that the chef actually grilled the lettuce and everyone was so shocked lol. Also, I love how Saul always talks about how his cooking is influenced by his daughters.

  3. So in the end the lowest rated chef who bought most of his stuff pre-packed is the one who made what one would normally call a caesar salad. However, Daniel's vegan recipe looks tastier than I thought it'd be, and Saul is so charming that all is forgotten.

  4. I love these videos! They are so fun and the commentary and camaraderie is so funny and enjoyable 🙂 thank you for these, super fun!
