Basbousa is equally famous dessert when it comes to Arabic cuisine alongside Baklawa and Kunafeh.
Basbousa is made like a cake, but the texture is different, and the sugar syrup makes it really apart and unique from other sweets.

We made Basbousa with Orange Zest, which gives it an amazing fresh taste and unique flavor.
Serve it chilled !

Recipe:

Sugar Syrup:
– 3 Cups Sugar
– 3 Cups Water
– 2 slices of lemon

Basbousa Batter:
– 2 cups sugar
– 2 cups Semolina/Sooji
– 2 cups all purpose flour
– 2 cups yogurt
– 1 cup shredded coconut
– 1 cup vegetable oil
– 6 eggs
– Zest of two oranges
– 4 tsp baking powder
– 2 tbsp vanilla essence
