  1. I’m from SC, southern raised. Grits are just part of your diet for breakfast or whenever. I have to confess as a working “adult” now I will use the little packs of Quaker instant when in a hurry. They’re not bad. They’re not anywhere near as good as the time it takes to make stone ground…but they come in clutch when you’re short on time. Lol

  2. My opinions on grits is similar. I was raised around it, but my father always used instant grits, salt, pepper, butter, and sometimes cheese before calling it a day. I found it bland and unappealing growing up. As an adult I tried that Hungry Man salisbury steak, gravy, cheese grits bowl and loved it. I'm trying to find tasty grits recipes now.

  3. I'm pretty sure this guy got this from a bad recipe somewhere. As a true southerner there's a lot better recipes because this guy has no idea what he's talking about.

  4. Personally at 28 years old I never had instant grits my granny always had a small sack of grits she’d buy from piggly wiggly. The one thing I don’t like about grits is that it takes about half a hour to cook, I’ve seen 5min grits and I tried em but I just go online to buy the Carolina brand

  5. I was lucky enough to fall in love and marry a beautiful low country girl. She could cook it all and taught me well. I think you got the recipe down pat. Peace and blessings on Shan, the pups and yourself. Love what you're doing. Hope to see you on the trail.

  6. Shrimp and grits is the lick 😋, can't beat that.I will eat that morning and evening. Just like I will with salmon patties. For real.

  7. Doggone this sounds great – got too excited and licked my computer screen but all it tasted like was dust. We love these videos and are still grateful for the time Kent took some time to be our guest on the podcast. The best to you both.

  8. cowboy kent, love grits and love shrimp. but never thought about putting them together… i will make for sure, that looks really good. made your onion rings and steak fingers, omg they were so good. anytime i do coating of anything now i do 3 time dipping, what a difference. so crispy. so you have a great day. thanks again

  9. This looks absolutely delicious! Can't wait to make this recipe. Wishing you the best of health. Love to you, Shannon and the family. 💐💐❤️❤️

  10. Brother Kent….. try using Velveeta slightly melted in the bowl before pouring in the grits. And don’t skimp on the cheese. Best cheese grits EVER👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

  11. Brazilian savory version (polenta) comes from Italy and sweet (and also savory) version (pamonha, curau) comes from Native South Americans and/or Africans. And there is another sweet version called "arroz doce". Yummy …

  12. I’ll tell you what. I watch how several other people make things on YouTube, but I always make sure I check in with you last to make sure I’m squared away.

  13. season????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

  14. The best shrimp and grits can only be found in Key West. However, this is a noble effort.:)

  15. Grits is like Malt – o Meal Good with sugar, butter, and dash of salt with some milk> I don't even buy bell pepper any more! Cause the GREEN CHILIES TAKE THERE PLACE> NOW I dearly love green chilies YUM > I'll be dang 🙄 THAT DOES LOOKS TO BE GOOD YUM

  16. Oh my goodness that looks so tasty. I've never seen anything like that, but I sure would like to try it. I love shrimp (we call them prawns here in Aus) and I love chilli. I wonder how crab meat might go as well.

  17. Doesn't matter where those southern folks are. Midwest folks can cook they butts off as well. I make the best cheesy damn grits u can get. Woohoo 🎉🎉
