Here is a fun way to have your hot dog on this independence day! Anyone who has ever enjoyed a dirty water dog from a New York hot dog cart knows exactly what I am talking about! This Bronx Bomber dog is simple and pure! An all beef, kosher dog boiled then nestled in a soft bun then topped with spicy brown mustard, red onion sauce and just enough sauerkraut to give things a little crunch and tang. One bite and you will know what the hype is all about! This hot dog is perfection. The flavors of the mustard, onions and kraut meld together with the smokiness of the hot dog to make the perfect bite. You taste it all and it is flat out delicious!

No matter if you are a fan of the New York Yankees or any other team, this hot dog is going to make you happy!

Since this is the Fourth of July and Independence day here in the United States, nothing is more perfect than a hot dog on your plate! This one is definitely one I hope you give a try sometime soon. If you can’t get one at a New York hot dog cart, then I hope you will try making one for yourself at home and I hope you love it!

Happy Eating and Happy Birthday America!

  1. That's what I'm talking about!! you're right, they are delicious specially when you buy one from a hot dog cart anywhere in New York City

  2. Ohhhhh, yummmm! This looks amazing! I've never been to New York, and never had a New York hot dog. Now. I wanna go, just for a hot dog lol!!! Thanks for sharing! take care and God bless! hugggggs!

  3. Noreen I live in the Bronx and you hit this on the nail with this recipe!! This is exactly how I by mines from the hot dog stand. I also like to buy their hot links and add the exact same toppings as well. I'm definitely making your red onion sauce recipe. Thanks for sharing and Happy 4th to you and yours 🙂

  4. Looks great! When I lived in Santa Cruz California decades ago, I stopped in Burger King one day for lunch and noticed they had hot dogs on the menu. Since I hadn't had a restaurant style hot dog in many a year I decided to get a couple. I placed my order at the drive thru and the lady asked what I wanted on my dog and I just said everything. Here in Virginia everything would have been mustard, onion, and chili unless you asked for something else specifically. I got my order and parked on the far side of the parking lot and took out one of my dogs and unwrapped it. Boy did I get a surprise, it had lettuce, tomato, onion and mayonnaise on it. I went ahead and gave it a try and it was actually quite good, I really enjoyed them. I've been eating them like that off and on now for years. =)

  5. They look good but I am not a onion lover at all! I usually put something else in when your recipe calls for onions. My favorite from being down in the south is what we call a sausage link hotdog! It is usually a hot brand, we do love hot things in the south. I always put a very tangy barbecue sauce and whatever other condiments we have to put on it. Oh it is always served with chips (any flavor.and any kind of French fries as long as it is hot! A great choice is The Flaming Hot Cheetoes! Now that's a celebration! Happy 4th!

  6. Looks fantastic. Red onion sauce is just wonderful so delicious yummy 😋 love your channel thank you so much for all the wonderful recipes and kitchen ideas. Thank you 😊

  7. I love sauerkraut! I'm one of those weirdos who will put in on my pizza-much to the disgust of my menfolk! lol This hotdog does look amazing. 🙂

  8. hi ms.noreen I'm going to be making this recipe just wanted to know where did you get those cute little jars from thanks and God bless.

  9. Oh my gosh Noreen!!!! I am going to try making the sauce. My hubby was drooling when i showed him this!

  10. I live in upstate NY, closer to Canada than NYC, thankfully. We have our own hot dogs made right in Syracuse called Hoffman. Girl, you have not had a hot dog until you've had Hoffman's German hot dogs, or coney's for those who love spice. No MSG!!!

  11. this is a great 🌭 luv them ,thanks again for sharing your recipes, I am enjoying your channel very much. being inspired to cut down on eating out so much and get back in the kitchen with oldy but goody recipes and ready to try new ones !

  12. Noreen, I made your Red Onion Hot Dog Sauce a couple nights ago! I must say it was the bomb! I absolutely loved the sauce! I do believe I am hooked for life..lol! I knew it was going to be good even before I tasted it because there has not been so far, any recipe of yours I have not liked. I have tried so many of your recipes that I've lost count! Thank you, Noreen, for another great recipe!

  13. oh I bet that would be good with coleslaw on top that looks good and I can't wait to make the red onion hot dog sauce

  14. If you want a true New York Yankees hot dog experience cook Nathan’s Famous Natural Casing Dogs. That's what they serve at Yankee Stadium. I never liked Hebrew National. I found them kind of bland. Go for old school dogs such as Nathan's or Sabrett. Just yellow mustard and sauerkraut. Lose the onions – that's for the tourists. It's all about keepin it real here in The Bronx. But of course it's more about personal taste – respect!

  15. I love watching your channel, Noreen. You are the most diverse cook I believe, on YouTube! Is there anything you can't make? This red hot dog sauce looks so delicious! I love a good hot dog! You offer so many delicious food offerings, I love trying them out, one at a time. Last week I made your Jasmine rice pudding, and it was off the charts! Going to make again soon! Again, thanks girl, for all the wonderful recipes…..you are one jammin' cook!!!

  16. Try making fresh horseradish stringy looking like sauerkraut. Great on Hot dogs. No mustard needed with the nostril burn. Really good actually if you can get fresh horseradish stringy, gotta be hot.
