We challenged chefs of three different skill levels – amateur Emily, home cook Daniel, and professional chef Yuji Haraguchi of Okonomi and Yuji Ramen – to make us a batch of their go-to buffalo wings. Once each level of chef had served up and sampled their creations, we asked expert food scientist Rose to explain the choices each wingmeister made along the way – both good and bad. Which are you reaching for first, a drum or a flat?

  1. So homeboy made drumsticks for wings? I'm not a biologist but I know what wings are. Maybe that 🐔 identified as having 4 wings? Ask that guy (I am assuming he identifies as a guy not a non binary 🌴) if he knows basic bird anatomy 🤷🏼‍♂️🤣🤣. DQ'd!!!!!

  2. my partner asked me if i could make cheeseburgers for dinner last night. i said sure, and gave her a bowl of cereal instead

daniel has taught me that anything can be anything you want it to be. thank you daniel ❤️

  3. I’m sorry, but if yuji missed the essence of wings. I Can forgive Daniel for using legs since they are my favorite but when you come across elitist making wings….I will never have your Japanese chicken! Not because I hate Japanese things but because there’s no way what he made had any semblance of BUFFALO wings. How do you mess that up?!?!?!

  4. "The healthiest dressing"
Yea, I don't care how healthy that is after all the sugar you dumped in there.

  5. Chef #2 needs to be disqualified for substituting chicken legs, serving Ranch instead of Blue Cheese dressing, and foraging the traditional celery. Chef #3 needs to go back to cooking school if he thinks his Japanese wings have anything to do with Buffalo wings. The clear winner is Chef #1 for keeping it traditional for the most part. Baking and adding a shake and bake coating is a legal option done by many traditional Buffalo wing cooks.

  6. Great video. The dude with the yellow hat seemed off-balance, though. I think he forgot his monkey or something. It made him a little hard to watch ("hype" about blue cheese? 🤷‍♂). You either like the flavor or you don't. Like literally every food.

  7. Definitely would have preferred an American expert for this American dish

  8. I make my wingz out of seitan. I will have to try making a tofu based ranch sauce for my vegan wingz.

  9. One is baked one is drumsticks and one isn’t even close to buffalo and has a tofu dipping sauce I give them all an f tbh 😭

  10. Level 1: Simple, basic, and what the normal person would probably do plus their own personal twist
Level 2: Not as simple, yummy, and a little prettier, plus a twist.
Level 3: Literally something else but it doesn’t matter because the twist is the flavor and presentation are out of the world.

  11. I demand a graduation ceremony when Emily hits level 2. I demand a graduation ceremony when Emily hits level 2.

  12. Even though Daniel's fried chicken pieces are looking the yummiest, however, those are not wings! Buffalo wings with legs is like a burger without the bun 😂

  13. I'm kinda disappointed that the pro chef didn't make buffalo wings. I'm japanese and I didn't want this….

  14. Me: I wonder if this will be the video where Daniel finally follows the instructions and–
Daniel: So I'm gonna use a drumstick for my buffalo wings
    Me: yeah
