Rice can be done in many ways, and each method can drastically change the final result. This oven-baked version comes out perfectly every single time. The rice is fluffy and soft, and you don’t need to worry about the rice sticking together.

Ingredients –

300g (10.5oz) – Basmati Rice, Washed
600g (600ml) – Boiling Water
Salt To Taste

Notes –

The water must be boiled; otherwise, the rice will take double the amount of time to cook, resulting in a poor product.

  1. Would be great to season it. I can imagine a cumin rice, a curried rice, maybe even an Italian seasoned rice or a barbecued rice. Yum.

  2. Cooking with aluminum foil is so bad for you! Have you not learned anything??! 👎👎👎

  3. I'm hitting 70 years soon but I learned a new way to cook any variety of rice from a 20 year old guy at a Supermarket shopping with his mom.
Do the usual prep , washing , etc then cook at VERY LOW FIRE FOR 25 MINUTES . WOW ! IT REALLY WORKS . I set the timer so I relax for 25 minutes. No burnt bottom, rice is fluffy, perfectly cook.

  4. I have never tried doing rice in the oven. I might just try 😊

  5. Haiyaaaa….
Oven for rice , oven is for cake not for rice just use a rice cooker.
    White rice matter

  6. Is there any benefit to cooking it in the oven as opposed to a rice cooker?

  7. When my 2 rice cookers break down , I needed a back up plan 😂 Thank you , I tried it , it was fluffy easy to make and delicious 🙏🙏🙏💯

  8. Why is the concept of rice cooker or a pressure cooker so strange to westerners… oven don’t change the game a rice cooker will.

  9. Thank you!!! I do this to rice and pea “Jamaican dish.” And people look at me like I’m crazy, literally comes out nice and Shelly, all the time😊

  10. Talk about a wasteful way of using energy to cook something so simple. It's not 1990, nobody cooks on the oven unless absolutely necessary

  11. Easier in microwave, same method, wash rice, hot tap water two cm above rice, 20 mins. Good in summer when you don’t want to put the oven on. Perfect rice every time.

  12. Btw your recipe in the description says 600 g (600 mL) boiling water, but boiling water is less dense that eoom temp water, so 600 mL of boiling hot water would actuall way less than 600 g
