I OLD SCHOOL BLACK SKILLET BLACKBERRY COBBLER

sometimes you wanna quick dessert without all the work
This is a very quick simple and awesome dessert that I make when I’m lazy and in a hurry !!

1 box of 2 refrigerated pie crusts (I prefer Pillsbury)
2 (1o-14 oz) bags frozen blackberries
1 stick butter, melted
1 1/3 cups sugar (for berries)
1/2 cup flour
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp nutmeg
1/4-1/2 cup sugar (to sprinkle on crust before baking)
1/2 stick butter, cut into small cubes (to dot onto crust before baking)

Instructions
Heat oven to 350 degrees.
Unroll one pie crust and place in bottom and up sides of 12 ” cast iron skillet.
Pierce bottom and sides of crust with a fork.
Bake 7 minutes; remove from oven.
Increase oven temp to 375 degrees.
In a large bowl, mix melted butter, 1 1/3 cups sugar, and flour.
Put berries in bowl with butter/sugar/flour mixture; toss until berries are covered and mixture is crumbly.
Gently pour berries into skillet
Unroll second pie crust over top of berries, sealing at the edges of the skillet.
Scatter the small pieces of butter on top of the crust.
Sprinkle 1/4-1/2 cups sugar on top of crust.
Cut tiny slits in top of pie crust.
Bake for approximately 45 minutes or until bubbly at edges and beginning to brown on top.

  1. Hello chef Jeff; I just made a blackberry cobbler using your recipe. It’s in the oven. I forgot to spray my cast iron 10 inch skillet. But it will be good and eaten. 😂 I did put butter and sugar on the top crust. Once again thank you 🙏🏾

  2. Hello chef Jeff, I made the blackberry cobbler and it’s delicious. I already had 2 servings. The butter and sugar combination on top make it flaky and sweet. I had whipped cream on mine. Thank you so much I love it. I’m going to give it to my grandkids.

  3. Watching this video…I had to go buy a smaller skillet, and I can proudly say…I made my skillet cobbler today…3-6-22…Lol…With God's grace, and your skills….I shall conquer my the world in baking…LOL

    Thanks so much!

  7. Made my first ever blackberry cobbler tonight with this recipe (my oldest aunt usually is the cobbler maker, but she’s 81 now) It turned out amazing!! Thank you, Chef! Keeping you in my prayers 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

  8. Your recipe says bake bottom crust for seven minutes but you didn’t do this in the video. I made mine in a glass dish but didn’t bake the bottom crust first. Hope it’s ok

  9. Made this cobbler – delicious! Followed the recipe and baked the bottom crust before adding the frozen berry mixture and it was a keeper that made it into grandma's recipe book and not too many recipes make it that far! Such an easy recipe that turns out great. I may add a pinch of salt to the top crust next time to give it that sweet salty taste that's so good with ice cream. Yum!

  10. Prefer the cast iron blueberry cobbler being the first to bake. Grandma baked more blueberry pies and bread puddings than anything else. However, she had her sheshed for canning and jarring her veggies. I bet she had jars of chow chow too.😚

  11. Easy. Easy. Easy. Easy. Easy. Simple. Easy. Easy. Simple. Easy. Easy. Easy. Easy. Easy. Simple. Easy. Easy. Easy. Easy. Easy. . . . . . .
