  1. Yes, spiral hams are overrated for sure. I like to bake a regular ham. Near the end of cooking, I score the top into diamond shape pattern and combine orange zest, brown sugar and a hint of ground cloves and spread on top. It makes a beautiful presentation and adds so much flavor too. A little sweet to counteract the saltiness of the ham. My Dad, years ago, used to be in charge of baking the ham. Wonderful memories for sure.

  2. I’m cooking a butt portion right now! We’re going to have potato salad ,fresh green beans and rolls! Love to use my left over ham in Fried Rice and Vegetable soup! From Buckhead,Ga Lake Oconee!

    Last time I buy four of them ,because here in Laval ,Québec ,Canada we can only buy it 1 or 2 times a years

  6. I have never baked a ham in a shallow pan because mine give off too much broth. How do you keep your ham from doing that? I bake my ham low and slow, and they’re moist and tender when they come out of the oven, but I have lots of broth.

  7. I've liked baking the ham and rind for the browned drippings, to use in beans later. Ham fat might be good for beans, but bring extra browned gives so much more flavor. I just love a freshly baked ham and then anticipate the leftovers for delicious beans. Yummmmmmm
