Five Bean Chili Recipe – This is the busiest time of year at my house, and that means I search for great dishes that can be prepped ahead and are ready to go whenever we need it. A gorgeous big pot of chili is the perfect answer. I love making this version of chili with five different beans – the protein content is great, so it fills everybody up and keeps them satisfied (the beef is optional!), and the flavor is amazing. Classic Beef Chili Recipe

Ingredients:
2 pounds ground beef
1 large onion, chopped
1 large green bell pepper, chopped
4 garlic cloves, minced
2 cans (14-1/2 ounces each) diced tomatoes, undrained
2 cans (16 ounces each) kidney beans, rinsed and drained
1 can (8 ounces) tomato sauce
1/4 cup chili powder
1 tablespoon ground cumin
1 tablespoon paprika
1 tablespoon salt
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
Shredded cheddar cheese and sour cream, optional
Instructions:
In a Dutch oven or large soup pot, cook beef over medium heat until no longer pink. Drain.
Add onion, green pepper and garlic to the pot. Cook until vegetables are tender, about 5 minutes.
Stir in tomatoes, beans, tomato sauce, chili powder, cumin, paprika, salt, garlic powder, onion powder, oregano and cayenne pepper.
Bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer, uncovered, for 30 minutes or until heated through.
Serve with shredded cheddar cheese and sour cream if desired.
