In New Mexico, these would be topped with an egg.
chef john really knows how to cook. Someone should just teach him how to eat! 7:35 lol
i adore you you make me laugh ty
Ah, one from the good ole days
You made a red mole gracy style sauce not a enchilada sauce, it's a shame because tral enchilada sauce is ten times easier than what you did.
Basically overcomplicated the reason for some strange reason, usually you nail everything and make things simpler not this time.
Keep practicing your reach-around chef, you'll get the hang of it eventually
Although I love enchiladas and have always wondered if scratch sauce is worth the effort over canned… it never occurred to me to make a sauce with ground spices instead of starting with dried chilies. So I thank you for this recipe. Can't wait to try it. BTW, I just made the most incredible pizza with your sauce recipe. Total home run. Loved it.
A touch of coco powder, and a bit of ketchup kicks it up a notch.
Omg thank you so much this was amazing
I've never made enchiladas in any form. Would cotija cheese be a good choice instead of pepper jack? Or is the texture too different? Thoughts?
Yummy 😋
the only enchilada recipe I've found on Allrecipes, so far, that actually has CORN tortillas!!! Thank you, Chef John!
I'm not sure what I love more, you're recipes or videos. Thanks so much.
This looks delicious, I'm going to make this and eat it with a fork and a spoon.😋
I am trying to find the one where you cooked chicken with Chipotle Adobo red sauce.
By the way guys, Hot Flexible Tortillas will be playing at Gabe’s this weekend, no cover charge
Nothing worse than a difficult reach around
Another delicious recipe! I love your channel.
I’m one that don’t like eating with forks. I always eat with a spoon.
need to make these asap!
I made this last night really good and the wife liked it>
Easy? Not so much.
I've made this a few times now. He ain't lying about the sauce, fellow Food Wishers. Dynamite.
I learned how to make red enchiladas, and green enchiladas when I lived in Mexico, and it just amazes me what people make, or buy and call it "enchilada sauce". That is definitely NOT the way I learned it from the indigenous ladies in Mexico. But then again, they use almost all fresh ingredients, no tomato paste, and no flour. They use things like dried chiles, fresh tomatos and onions and garlic etc…and cooked for a good long while. I suppose this works though. I'll have to try it and see how it tastes compared to what I learned.
been following you and appreciating your mastery. i am always impressed. your enchilada dish however is so "gringo like," i did nothing but laugh. looked pretty delicious. not gonna lie, but if my grandma sees me do this, she'll simply dishonor me. true to her roots. i am hungry though and will make my enchiladas your way. sshh! don't tell grandma. 😊
"Chickened and cheesed." hahaha!!
You are suppose to used a Green Chili Verde Sauce for Chicken Enchiladas ! The Red Sauce is for BEEF Enchiladas !! Flour Tortillas for Chicken Enchiladas and Corn Tortillas, white or yellow for BEEF Enchiladas !!!
✌😄
Amazing meal wish was at your home dining with your family BIG UP God bless
Just made this for dinner… delish. I boiled the chicken in the water for the red sauce instead of frying the chicken, turned out very very good. 💯❤
Please stop with the affection, its so annoying.
Just made this for dinner and my partner and I loved it. Here’s a tip: add a little bit of vinegar and garlic powder to the enchilada sauce. We think it elevates it to the next level.
Cast iron is reactive and shouldn’t have any tomatoe product in it. I wish that wasn’t the case. Maybe stainless steel?
