  1. Greetings from Washington State!
I was wondering where you purchased the glass containers you decanted the applesauce into?
    Thanks!
    Trish

  2. Thanks for posting- I inherited a food mill and was wondering what to use it for besides tomato sauce 👍

  3. I don't have a food mill, but I do have an emulsifier. Will that work? Or a blender? I'd have to remove the core and seeds, but so what, I'd do it anyway. This looks wonderful…I'm going to try it. Oh, my Mom made applesauce and froze in quart packages. It was wonderful…..great with pork chops

  4. Do you know if washing the apples in vinegar and baking soda would get rid of black spots all over my apples? I think it might be pollution. I have issues with osteoarthritis in both my thumbs, and I need an easier way to scrub them. I use a vegetable scrubber.

  5. So I made applesauce and included the peels as you wrote about in your email. Did almost 8 pints. Immersion blender worked great, added a touch of lemon juice as I was cutting, a splash of water. Once puréed, a little sugar and cinnamon. Now the jars are popping on the counter. 😋😋. Great suggestion to leave the peel on and do much simpler than the food mill. Grandson’s chickens will enjoy the frozen cores. 🍎👍❤️

  6. Hi Mary I learn a LOT from your videos so I want to make applesauce and of course you was the 1st person I wanted to check, now I just need to buy the apple 😉 I love cinnamon, I can put in almost everything 😁 but I'll try some with cinnamon and whole cloves as well, I think it will be delicious, you should try as well. Love you Mary and im so thankful for all that you share with us, many blessing to you all!

  7. Thank you! Tonight I am making applesauce with the skin on. I had not thought of just leaving the core but that sounds like a great idea that's less wasteful. I had never heard of a food mill. I'm going to consider one for when I have a larger kitchen. So far, I haven't had a need for one. Thanks again.

  8. Mary is there any use for the left overs by dehydrating it and powdering it? Or is that waste not really good for anything other than composting or feeding to critters (like pigs or chickens)

  9. It’s not as easy as it looks to use a food mill. Lol. I ordered one and have learned the one received said 2 qts (no way is it 2 qts). I’ll reorder…. But I’ll look at the dimensions and double hooks for it to be balanced on the bowl. It taste delicious. Thanks for great instructions.

  10. i have a question? I used the size larger for food mill and i am concerned that some seeds might have got through? is this a concern? it was crab apples that i was using…

  11. Thanks for the great video! I was gifted a lot of crabapples. I've made as much jelly as I have time for, but applesauce will be just the ticket to use up the rest.

  12. Thank you for this video! I'm going to try this tomorrow using a food mill for the first time. Hope it turns out like yours!!

  13. I LOVE your videos but honestly it is easier to peel and core the apples than it is to use the mill. Bought one specifically for this and it took so much longer then just peeling the apples. I know you say it has more nutrients in the peel but I don’t taste the difference. I hate the mill But love the recipe.

  14. Thank you so much. I’m looking for recipes that are senior citizen friendly without pureed. So far your applesauce looks the best. Keep up the good work.

  15. I was so delighted to find you live in theTexas Hill Country, too. I live in Copperas Cove, Tx. This video was wonderful so thanks for that!

  16. Watched your video before making a quick batch of applesauce with our new foodmill. So fast and easy! Tastes great!

  17. How long does this last in the refrigerator. I would like to actually can the applesauce to stay on the shelf.
