Popcorn is one of the greatest foods on planet Earth and I think you all should know how to pop to perfection right at home. My spice blend has been honed and perfected over many, many years and is an umami party thanks to several magical ingredients (yes, nutritional yeast is one of them). I burned my finger making this the other night and I’d do it again just to be alone with a giant bowl all to myself.

Here are the ingredients—taste and season as you go!
**Magical 7-Spice Umami Popcorn**
Popcorn kernels
Vegetable oil, for popping
Extra virgin olive oil, for seasoning
Kosher salt
Freshly ground black pepper
Nutritional yeast
Aleppo pepper
MSG
Granulated garlic

  1. I made this and it was great. I used garlic powder and didn't have MSG and it was still super yum.
Oh and I had kernels left unpopped.

  2. Someone else who cannot focus with all the childish sound effects and 'oh' s?

  3. "I feel seen", as my esteemed colleague who also loves this video, once told me. Now I feel seen, too. The reverence for the first kernel pop – popcorn sisters-in-arms.

  4. Wow I love the life notes that I will experience while making this. And shout out to the director of that last 5 seconds of this video

  5. Look forward to the "primitive scooper" experience with your seasoning. 🙂

  6. I gotta be honest, I really wanted this spice mix to not be that big a deal but IT IS and everyone deserves to try it

  7. Just made this and omg so yum! I was skeptical about the olive oil because I generally prefer the flavor of butter but it paired so well with all the other spices, thanks!! 💜

  8. I say yes to popcorn. The stove is to slow for me, I use a silicone microwave popcorn popper, the lid goes inside the bowl and come up as the corn pops. The only oil that I like is a good extra virgin olive oil. I use a zaatar blend that I have added nutritional yeast to. I also add an apple to the pile of popcorn. I stuff it down by the handful. I use the popcorn and a slice of apple to get the seasoning together. Thanks Carlalallimusic for letting me know someone else enjoying the pop corn as much as I do. I tried popping Milo, forget it. Way to small.

  9. You are so right. It was July 4 yesterday, and when I heard the fireworks, I said: it sounds like popcorn popping. I have been popping a lot of corn lately.

  10. I just met you and you are speaking my language with everything popcorn. I know now I need to level up my game and literally have all these seasonings in my online shopping cart! 😂

  11. Great recipe. Tried it tonight with the family and everyone was scooping out the spices at the end. Highly recommend.

  12. If you were to add all the spices to the oil, would the popcorn come out already seasoned or would it all just burn?
