The “creamy au jus” sauce is the secret to this burger. Our version is very simple but effective. Here’s the recipe:
1/3 cup of heavy whipping cream
1 teaspoon of Beef Base (we use Better Than Bullion brand)
2 drops of Lea & Perrin’s Worchestershire Sauce
Whisk together until well mixed. Refrigerate until ready to use. Keeps up to 3 days in the refrigerator.

  1. Look at you and the handsome Paul brain storming a mad scientist experiment in the kitchen!

  2. I'm just curious, where did you find the beef base? Looks like a great burger. I'd like to try making it some time.

  3. Stumbled on this by accident. Hats off to you for attempting to recreate that sauce. I would never know where to begin. It is definitely my favorite burger of all time. If you like grilled onions, add them to the order and enjoy. Its by far the best ever anywhere in my opinion. Hopefully the bank buyout wont screw up this last bastion of an amazing fast food restaurant. Ill have to try the sauce real soon. Thank you.

  4. I’ve had some good burgers in my time. Uh, I love a good swiss, melted swiss cheese, mush- roasted mushrooms and caramelized onions on a burger. Uh…that is hot stuff, you can get that at- at a number of different places.

  5. Okay, this recipe was 🔥🔥🔥!!! So glad i came across this to make myself and saved me the money, travel, and eating a 55% beef patty. Im stuffed!

  6. Just had the Swiss mushroom burger from Whattaburger this weekend ( first whattaburger ever) SOOOO glad I found this!!

  7. I heard a stomach growl at 5:50. That is a sure sign you're doing something right. Is there an estimated yield on this recipe?

  8. Thank you for sharing! This is my absolute favorite burger from Whataburger but due to health reasons I need to have an anti inflammatory diet. Unfortunately I highly doubt Whataburger can offer me that with their recipe! But some good beef at home, no bun & your sauce-I’d be in compliance! Thank you! 🥰

  9. Chefs kiss 💋 this recipe nailed it! Although, I ended up mixing the sauce in the pan with the mushrooms to thicken it up and it was heavenly. Thank you kindly for sharing this recipe.

  10. Thanks for showing us this. We're trying to copycat Whataburger's Mushroom & Swiss. ALso, sorry that Paul's not feeling good, but I like seeing him in the videos.

  11. In the original sauce mayonnaise is a very prominent flavour so I think maybe mayo instead of heavy cream

  12. Look everybody else I'm hooked on the mushswiss burgers as well. Thanks for the recipe gonna give a try and it's great I'll spread the word.

  13. Is there a list of ingredients? Whataburger has recently dropped the mushroom and Swiss off their menu, so in other words, I will not be going back

  14. My husband and I discovered the Whataburger Mushroom Swiss burger only a few months before they discontinued it! We were crushed! Thanks for this recipe. The taste was spot on.

  15. I love this thank you! My fiance also loves this burger! Since they removed the mushroom swiss from the menu he was a bit disappointed. Now I can try to make it for him!

  16. This is a spot on identical copy for the Whataburger Mushroom swiss burger sauce. Make it! Use an entire carton of mushrooms and cook them all the way down. Perfection.
