  2. I've been using V-8 or tomato juice on my cabbage rolls for years. My father made them that way. He would use just beef, and rice. I'm using pork, and beef with rice!

  4. Awesome.. you are the Aunt Jemimah of the kitchen !! What a privilege to watch you. xx I put my cabbage in the freezer when I buy it in advance . A day before I make my cabbage rolls I take the head of cabbage out of the freezer and thaw it out on the counter in a bowl of water that covers the cabbage.
    This eliminates the need to be so ginger with it while releasing the leaves. and no need to blanch it. It thaws into a limp leaf !!! Thank you for sharing your expertise. Love and Peace xx

  6. Or another way it's slower, but less work, is to freeze your whole cabbage overnight. Then let it thaw out on the countertop the next morning. When cabbage is totally thawed the leaves will very easily peel off, be wilted, & soft ready to roll & be stuffed!

  7. You boil the whole cabbage and it works much better. It also prevents the rolls from being tough. Nothing worse than tough cabbage. The moisture helps that. It also brings out the sweetness before stuffing the leaves. Two to three minutes may not be enough for tougher leaves too. If you are after less sweetness and harder cabbage then I guess this method would work. The best rice for stuffed cabbage is River Rice which is hard to find.

I needed you when I was raising my children,I started trying to cook and bake as a young child and would ask my Grandmother and Mother,I say Mother cuz she wasn't a Mom to me, she often told me how she hated me,I asked,but they wouldn't tell me how, they just made fun of me as I failed,you actually brought tears down my face, you're the Mom I wish I had,and I'm 65 😊

  10. Love these. My German Grandma taught me to make these. Just a little tip from my Grandma.. Take some of the hard core parts and place in the bottom of the pan . Place the rolls on them, it will keep them from burning as well.
