Congratz. Never seen that color before!

For a first cook I went for chinese legs/thighs. Very forgiving and always great on coals.

Congrats! Is that the Ace indigo Premium? That color really shines in the sun! I was heavily torn between that one to match my indigo Genesis, or the spring green.

Missing the rubber piece on the top vent?

I sure hope you’re not grilling on that deck.

If you didn’t already have them, good digital thermometers, like the Thermoworks X2/X4 and a Pop, or similar, are great to have. The Smoke is especially nice if you do any low and slow cooks.

A SkyFlame stainless steel heat controller and a Vortex (offbrand vortex is fine). The SkyFlame has a large charcoal ring, which holds plenty of charcoal for longer cooks, like brisket.

To round off control, a Tip-Top-Temp has no batteries and only costs about $45, and will regular temps with minimal adjustments throughout the cook.

Nice color! Tri-tip is always good on the kettle.
